Debate – “Trail Running, more than a race”
Representatives of entities such as the Portuguese Trail Running Association, the Portuguese Athletics Federation, ITRA, Turismo Centro de Portugal, Aldeias do Xisto, the Mayor of Miranda do Corvo and, of course, the National Trail Ultra Champions, are some of the speakers that will be present in the debate organized by Associação Abutrica on the date that the 11th edition of Trilhos dos Abutres would be celebrated. The event will kick off with the release of a film, which will consist of a compilation of the best moments of the race in 2020.
Saturday, January 30, at 9:30 pm, on the same date that the “Trilhos dos Abutres” race would take place, Associação Abutrica opted to hold an online event on the theme “Trail Running, more than a race”, in the form debate, with the presence of some of the most influential figures in the sport in Portugal.
The Association will also offer all participants with the launch of a new mini-film entitled “60 seconds more Epic”, where you can see some of the most remarkable moments of the 2020 edition.
The themes were designed taking into account the current panorama of the Trail Running modality, national and international, and with the aim of bringing up themes as relevant as:
“The future of the sport”, with the following panel:
Rui Pinho (President of ATRP)
Jorge Vieira (President of the FPA)
José Carlos Santos (Vice President of ITRA)
“Trail running vs Active Tourism”, with the following panel:
Miguel Baptista (Mayor of Miranda do Corvo)
Pedro Machado (President of Central Portugal Tourism)
António Figueiredo (Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra)
Rui Simão (Aldeias do Xisto)
“Competitiveness in the Sport”, with the following panel:
André Rodrigues, (National Trail Ultra Champion)
Mariana Machado (National Ultra Trail Champion)
José Sá (Director of the National Champion Ultra Trail team)
These are some of the guests. But, there will be others who promise to leave their testimonies and contribute with an active voice to this event.
The honors will be done by the hard core of the organization of this digital debate and, in the role of host, we will have João Carvalho, nicknamed “Joca”, who, for sure, will bring with him the good mood that always accompanies him.
The public will be given the possibility to ask questions of the panel of speakers.
The event will take place online, on the digital platforms of Trilhos dos Abutres: Facebook and Youtube.
In this atypical year, Associação Abutrica wants to provide fans of the sport with a moment of reflection so that, although there is no possibility at the moment to participate in competitions, they can attend a debate on a topic that is passionate about them, in a sharing environment.
